An infinite relationship with your assays

The Infinite F500 is Tecan’s most sensitive filter-based multimode microplate reader, to provide a multifunctional and modular system which offers excellent levels of sensitivity for fluorescence- and luminescence-based assays. The Infinite F500 is compatible with a wide variety of microplates, from 6- to 1,536-wells, including standard and low volume plate formats and Tecan’s patent pending NanoQuant Plate™. Its high speed, on-the-fly measurement capabilities ensure maximum throughput, allowing complete reading of a 1,536-well plate in under 30 seconds. It supports a broad range of measurement modes and functions, allowing straightforward application of many current assay technologies, and its modular design ensures your instrument can grow with your needs.

Infinite® F500 - Features

High measurement speed and robotic compatibility

The Infinite F500 filter-based microplate reader is capable of reading 6 to 384-well plates, including standard, half-area and low volume 384-well plates. All top-reading modes can be used for 1536-well microplates (optional) and, by selecting the high speed »on-the-fly« mode, a 1536-well plate can be read in less than 30 seconds (please refer to typical performance values). The Infinite F500 can also be easily integrated into the Freedom EVO® series of automated platforms.

NanoQuant Plate™ compatibility: DNA quantification in 2 μl samples

The patent pending NanoQuant Plate allows the measurement of up to 16 samples simultaneously, in volumes as low as 2 μl. This 16 individual quartz optics are a great solution for DNA/RNA quantification, as well as quality control applications, and are compatible with multichannel pipettes for easy sample application. z-Optimization: for better results in low volumes

The Infinite F500 microplate reader allows you to automatically adjust the z-focus in all top-reading modes (fluorescence intensity and polarization, luminescence), significantly improving the quality of measurements. The automated z-focusing makes it easy to optimize the set-up and adapt the instrument settings to highly demanding assay parameters, such as low volumes or different well shapes.

The fast and sensitive Infinite F500 filter-based microplate reader is ideal for a broad range of applications, in particular ratiometric assays and other technologies routinely used within assay development, screening and ADMET laboratories, research institutes and the Life Sciences industry. It is capable of reading 6 to 1536-well microplates, including standard and low-volume plates.



The Infinite F500 microplate reader supports many different applications and assay technologies, such as:

  • TR-FRET-based assays: e.g. HTRF® (Cisbio bioassays, France), LanthaScreen® (Invitrogen).
  • FRET-based assays: e.g. Z`-LYTE® (Invitrogen) to study cellular protein kinases, GeneBLAzer® (Invitrogen) Reporter Gene assays.
  • Glow luminescence: cell-based & reporter gene assays
  • Flash luminescence: e.g. dual luciferase assay (DLR®) and various CA2+ detection assays if optional injectors are installed

HTRF® is a registered trademark of Cisbio international, France. The fluorescence ratio associated with the HTRF® readout is a correction method developed by Cisbio international and covered by the US patent 5,527,684 and its foreign equivalents, for which Cisbio international has granted a license to Tecan Group Ltd. Its application is strictly limited to the use of HTRF® reagents and technology, excluding any other TR-FRET technologies.
